SWA Projects


Heartwoods Phase 1 (2002-2005) has been completed successfully with nearly £1 million invested in the sector, 28 new jobs created, 47 jobs safeguarded and 100 business personnel trained.  £100,000 of timber was also brokered and over 80% of the timber purchase requests were sourced from within the area creating £80,000 of business.

Green Wood Centre, now part of SWA, helping to support native broadleaved woodlands through the teaching of traditional woodland management skills and green wood crafts, developing new support mechanisms for the coppice and green wood sectors and encouraging more ‘on the ground’ projects.

Herefordshire Sustain Project, Putting woodlands, people and business at the heart of a working sustainable partnership project that could become a replicable model for sustainability in the UK.

Coed Lleol, part of the ‘Local Woods’ campaign, a project restoring the links between people and woodlands in Wales and increasing public awareness of the important benefits that woodlands bring to the country.

Woodland Initiatives Network, providing support and aiding communication between woodland initiatives throughout the UK, enabling them to share knowledge, expertise and best practice.
