Management Planning
A management plan is a document that details the actions you need to take to make your woodland sustainable. A management plan should state what you want to achieve, why you want to achieve it, and how you are going to do this on an annual cycle. It will probably have long and short term aims and a revision date to remind you that you need to review things now and again. If you wish to apply for a felling licence and/or grants from the Forestry Commission they will expect you to have a management plan in place although the procedures and guidelines vay somewhat depending where in the UK you are located - see the Forestry Commission website for further information.
A useful guide to creating a management plan for your woodland is available here, and also is covered in the useful BTCV Woodlands handbook, available on-line here
