New Coppice and Green Wood Trades Apprenticeships
The Small Woods Association support the sustainable management of woodlands in the UK through a number of woodland projects. Having successfully run a national Coppice Apprenticeship scheme for a number of years, Small Woods, in association with Plumpton College, are now able to offer a new apprenticeship scheme to encourage young people in the South East into the coppice and green wood trades sector.
The Work-based Level 2 Apprenticeship Programme is designed for those who are interested in a successful career working in woodland management and traditional woodland crafts. It has a mix of theory and practical sessions where apprentices will learn the necessary skills and understanding to start a career in woodland management whilst earning a wage at the same time.
For any young people aged 17 or over before 1st September 2012 interested in finding out more, a 3 day ‘Work In The Woods’ taster event is being held at Plumpton College from the 5th to the 7th March 2012.There will be an opportunity to apply for the apprenticeships following the event.
For more information please see the Plumpton College website www.plumpton.ac.uk, the Small Woods Association website www.smallwoods.org.uk, or email Fran from Small Woods at franfowkes@smallwoods.org.uk.
