Learn how to decorate your spoons with the traditional art of Kohlrosing and Milk Painting. Kohlrosing is a traditional Scandanavian technique of decorating a piece of wood with lines or patterns and then filling it with a dark material or powder such as charcoal or coffee grounds. Milk paint is a thin, non-toxic, water based paint which enhances the natural beauty and grain of wood with an added touch of colour.

You will learn:

  • How to create a design for your Kohlrosing
  • How to create incisions with a knife
  • What materials can be used and how to fill your pattern
  • Finishing techniques
  • How to mix and prepare milk paint
  • How to use it effectively to enhance your spoons

Your tutor will be Pete Lloyd

Our experience:

Small Woods use only experienced professionals and woodland practitioners as tutors. We have more than 20 years’ experience of delivering courses and training and a reputation for high quality teaching and professionalism.

Small Woods courses are suitable for all levels of experience and ability and we keep course numbers low. The physical nature and/or woodland location of some courses may make them difficult for people with mobility problems. We do, however, have many years’ experience in enabling all groups to attend courses and will make every effort to ensure a satisfying experience for all.
