Choose from a selection of British hardwoods to make your own unique viking chair with a sculptured finish. Design to suit your own size and specification.

You will learn:

  • To select suitable material, and properties of different timbers
  • How to shape your timber
  • How to put your chair together
  • Hand carving techniques to complete your chair

This is a simple and effective design which will make a great edition to any woodland camp or garden.

Your course tutor will be Tom Dillon. Tom has been a green woodworker for over ten years, starting out as Mike Abbott’s chairmaking assistant in 2011. Since then he has been involved in woodland management and round wood timber framing projects and has worked teaching green wood crafts for a Special Education College for young adults.

Our experience:

Small Woods use only experienced professionals and woodland practitioners as tutors. We have more than 20 years’ experience of delivering courses and training and a reputation for high quality teaching and professionalism.

Small Woods courses are suitable for all levels of experience and ability and we keep course numbers low. The physical nature and/or woodland location of some courses may make them difficult for people with mobility problems. We do, however, have many years’ experience in enabling all groups to attend courses and will make every effort to ensure a satisfying experience for all.
