Film Making Brief

Coed Lleol (Small Woods Wales) - Leader Collaboration bid, February 2021

Coed Lleol is the Welsh branch of the Small Woods Association, a UK-wide charity which promotes sustainable use of woodlands for people, wildlife and work.  We co-ordinate the Actif Woods programme in 10 areas of Wales, working to improve the health and wellbeing of those with the greatest need, through regular participation in woodland wellbeing activities.  We work closely with health and social care services to access individuals who will benefit from our programmes.  www.coedlleol.org.uk for further details.

As part of a funding bid to Leader for a collaboration project, we are interested in making some short bilingual films in English and Welsh. These will promote and showcase our work on green social prescribing in a way which can involve and inspire healthcare professionals who may wish to refer patients to our activities, or become more involved in the field of outdoor nature-based wellbeing activities themselves.   We are interested in receiving quotes from companies or individuals who have the expertise to help us create these films.  Ideally the film(s) will:

  • Be 5-10 mins long
  • Showcase participant stories/case studies from several different regions of Wales (Merthyr Tydfil, Neath Port Talbot, Ceredigion).
  • Involve our leaders who can talk or show the activities they run, and the benefits they have observed to participants
  • May involve our partners, leaders, participants and referral organisations in a process of participatory film making (if possible).
  • Will show evidence and statistics of how and why outdoor activities can benefit individuals with health needs (our evaluation officer can coordinate input of some of our evaluation data).
  • Be bilingual films, in both English and Welsh

We are looking for a quote which will include:

  • Preparation and discussion with our staff and leaders of what is feasible and what we want
  • Involvement of participants and leaders and referral partners in the process of film making (if a participatory film making process is feasible).
  • Actual filming in 3 locations of Wales (2 in south Wales, plus Ceredigion)
  • Editing and production of the final film(s)
  • Indication of any equipment we would need to purchase as part of the project, with approximate costs.

We are open to suggestions on exact content and process. Closing date for responses 9am Monday 29 March 2021
