Coed Lleol (Small Woods Wales) featured in BBC Two's New Voices from Wales

8 Apr 2021

Back in December 2020, Coed Lleol (Small Woods Wales) Project Officer Anna Stickland ran a woodland wellbeing taster session in the South Wales town of Ystradgynlais.

This session was featured in a BBC Two New Voices from Wales episode called Refuge, which follows Aboudi and Ahmad, two brothers who moved to the town with their family after fleeing the Syrian civil war.

Although Coed Lleol (Small Woods Wales) works across Wales, we have never run many sessions in Powys. While Powys is the largest county in terms of area, it has the smallest population. Ystradgynlais is right in the South of the county and borders Neath Port Talbot and Carmarthen and has the traditional valleys industries of coal mining and ironworks compared to the more rural industries of the rest of the county. Throughout the pandemic, Coed Lleol (Small Woods Wales) have been delivering sessions online, which has enabled engagement with people outside of where we normally have projects.
