Coed Lleol (Small Woods Wales) runs woodland health and wellbeing activity groups in Neath Port Talbot as part of our Actif Woods Wales programme. Discover how woodlands can help breathe new life into your soul, while learning to care for the environment.
Our sessions are designed to offer participants the opportunity to learn new skills, gain confidence, provide a friendly environment and opportunity to make friends, spend time outdoors and protect the natural environment.
Each session can consist of multiple woodland activities, such as:
Spending time in woodlands has been proven to lower heart rate and blood pressure, reduce stress hormone production, boost the immune system, and improve overall feelings of wellbeing. Here are some quotes from participants:
“Actif Woods is amazing and it has helped me in so many ways in the last four or five years. I've made so many friends and memories!”
(Participant, Weekly Drop-in group)
“I would say that being part of the Actif Woods group has decreased my anxiety. I feel more comfortable being out and it has given me more energy. It has made me more confident within myself.”
(Participant, Family Group 2019)

During Covid-19, we've been working online to help people connect to nature and woodlands at home and in their local area (click here to find out how we can support you remotely).
As restrictions lift, we're gradually getting back to running our woodland activities in person. Go to our events page or on our Facebook page for updates, or get in touch.
