Growing Together

Over half the UK’s woodlands are neglected, overlooked, under-valued and are in danger of disappearing!

Woodlands need our care and protection to realise their potential. When managed and used well, our woodlands are vital to thriving local economies, wildlife, and the wellbeing of communities, as well as hugely valuable in the fight against climate change.

Small Woods is a thriving community with a shared passion for UK woodlands. We believe in the environmental, social, economic and cultural benefits of bringing woodlands & people together.

Whether you’re looking to maintain, understand, or embrace woodlands for your health, we’d welcome you to join our community and help us protect and care for our woodlands for generations to come.

Our vision - why we do it

For the environment

We will enable more sustainable woodland management by supporting networks of woodland owners and managers with our knowledge and advice.

For economic benefits

We will use our community expertise to increase the number of productive woodlands and advise the best use of woodlands for their owners / managers.

For health & wellbeing

We will encourage the use of woodlands for social forestry through community projects - helping people get healthy the woodland way.

To preserve culture

We will educate to protect woodlands by developing a culture for future generations that respects nature,
