Art and Heritage Nature Skills in Swansea and Carmarthenshire

12 Awst 2025

This project connects people to their local woodlands and each other, bringing diverse communities together, using creative activities as a medium for expression. The aim is to support attendees to achieve improved personal and community wellbeing, and gain new skills and knowledge.  We are focusing on positive engagement and use of woodlands through art and heritage nature-based activities, improving local peoples physical and mental health and general wellbeing.

So far this young we have been working with diverse families and youth groups in Swansea and offered a bespoke LGBTQ+ ‘Our Queer Nature’ as a closed programme in Carmarthenshire. During these sessions we have offered a wide range of activities including:

·       Straw craft

·       Nature journaling

·       Cave style paintings with natural paints

·       Clay wood spirits

·       Outdoor cooking

·       Cordage from brambles

·       Friendship bracelets / necklaces

·       Wand making

·       Nature print making

“We’re so pleased to be able to offer these experiences and broaden out our offer of the type of art and heritage skills we are able to provide to our local groups through the funding from Scottish Power Foundation. Nature connection is so valuable to supporting positive personal wellbeing and encouraging future generations to preserve and protect our natural world by finding a passion for being outdoors.” Alison Moore Social Forestry and Wellbeing Manager
