This course will take you through the full process of creating your own, unique, ash splint basket. 

"Each ash splint starts as a section of the trees’ growth ring, pounded by hand. They are then split further, trimmed to size, knife finished and cut ready for weaving. The techniques, designs and forms I use are based on long established craftmanship which have roots from North America and I also use green wood working techniques from Europe" 

You will learn: 

- How to select appropriate wood.

- How to pound an ash log to separate the growth ring layers and create splints. 

- How to process splints.

- Weaving techniques to create your basket.
