New opportunities for woodland wellbeing across Wales

12 Rhag 2023

We are delighted to have launched five new projects to improve health and wellbeing across Wales, under the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity fund, which is part of the Levelling Up agenda.

In addition to the building of a 'green health hub', we will be offering a wide range of programmes, one off sessions and volunteering opportunities. Nature crafts, immersive experiences and connection with green spaces will be used as preventative health care measures and to show participants how to improve their wellbeing.

Alison Moore, the South Wales Coordinator said “we’re really excited to receive the Shared Prosperity Funding, this enables us to reach out to more communities to support their health and wellbeing, as well as their learning and skills in nature and the environment.”

Anglesey: The ‘Connecting People, Nature and Place through Skills and Training’ project has received £250,000 to improve skills, community resilience and wellbeing for those furthest from the employment market.

Neath Port Talbot: The ‘Connecting People, Nature and Place through Skills and Training’ project has received £275,706 in funding for wellbeing support and woodland infrastructure.

Pembrokeshire:  The ‘Connecting People, Nature and Place through Skills and Training’ project has received £280,724 in funding for wellbeing support.

Carmarthenshire: Coed Lleol / Small Woods in Wales are working in partnership with University Wales Trinity St David to develop the future of the Cynefin ‘Green Health Hub’, and have received a total of £270,000 in funding.

Swansea: ‘Personal Wellbeing, Growth and Progression in Nature’ has received £32,500 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (Third Sector Grant Scheme) for wellbeing support.
