“It's opened my eyes to what's out there”

Heli Gittins, one of our project officers in North Wales, has recently had an article published in peer reviewed journal - Wellbeing, Space and Society - on the long term benefits of a programme that Coed Lleol / Small Woods Wales have delivered for over a decade!

Heli, who has a PHD in natural environment, health and well-being and is working on our green health initiative in Conwy, also lectures part time at Bangor University. The article, titled 'How do nature-based interventions influence access to and perceptions of the natural environment?' is a fascinating exploration of how woodland programmes like Actif Woods Wales break down barriers to access, create enduring positive changes and increase independent woodland use. We are very proud to be a part of this research, and of Heli for her hard work and dedication.
