Want to know what that out-of-place hollow or mound in your wood is? Then let woodland archaeology expert David Brown explain with this walk around the lovely Hornshurst Wood. The wood is a ‘PAWS’ (plantation on ancient woodland site) with many features of interest including pillow mounds, charcoal platforms, sawpits and old boundary banks. David has been studying the wood for some years now and is building up a picture of how it has been used over the centuries.

There are woodland paths, but be prepared for walking on rough ground as well. Well-behaved dogs also welcome. Bring your own water or flask. Please beware there are no toilets on the site. Numbers will be limited to 12 given parking space on a first come, first served basis.
