Tree Talks -The Wild Service Tree

Friday 26 March 2021, 11am, online

Often overlooked in the UK and generally confined to our ancient woodlands and hedgerows, the wild service has become something of an enigma. Lost in the myths of time, its true value has disappeared along with its benefits to nature and society. In stark contrast, the wild service is a valued and nurtured species on the continent.

Nick has studied the wild service and discovered a fascinating tree that could present new opportunities as a climate change species. He will talk about its habitat, propagation and silviculture and provide an insight into why it should be considered as a distinct part of our future woodland mix.

Nick Marsh is the Project Officer for the new Small Woods Woodland Biodiversity Project.
