The lots were : 21 acres of self-sown woodland on former rough grazing;17 acres of an old sand pit; 12 acres of neglected mixed softwood and hardwood plantation with rough grazing.

The woodland has 3 management objectives - social, environmental and sustainable. The first objective is met by opening the main woodland to permissive public access, having the Woodland Skills Centre based on the site and using some of the land for allotments and a small caravan site.

The second objective is met by having a programme of monitoring and recording, habitat creation and management which has resulted in a wealth of flora and fauna. The third objective is that the woodland should produce enough income to pay for its management to remain a healthy and viable woodland. This income includes forestry products (firewood, coppice hazel, craft materials) and non-forestry elements such as the rent paid by the Woodland Skills Centre and other organisations which use it.

There are a number of timber-frame buildings on site designed and built the Woodland Skills Centre which include two fairly large buildings with water, electricity, w.c, kitchen, office space, several shelters in the woodland and buildings such as barns.
